european cartographers like mercator standardized the north-up orientation during the 16th century height of colonial expansion. These maps were designed by and for european kkkolonial powers. they exaggerate the size of wealthy northern nations and diminish the Global South to make empire seem like a natural order.

i reject imperial tradition, and i recognize that resistance flows from the South.
